Barb Goldworm is a well-known industry expert, frequent keynote speaker, author, and columnist on virtualization, systems management, and storage, with over 30 years experience in various senior management, technical, marketing, sales and industry analyst positions with IBM, StorageTek, Novell, Enterprise Management Associates and other successful startup ventures.

In addition to giving regular keynotes at hundreds of virtualization, datacenter and storage events throughout North America, Barb is the Virtualization Track Chair for Interop, responsible for all the virtualization track sessions as well as the highly acclaimed in-depth virtualization workshops. She is also chair of DataCenter Insights, and is on the advisory board for CloudConnect. She also created and chaired the Storage Networking Track at Interop and chaired the Server Blade Summit on Virtualization and Blades. Barb has also been one of the top rated expert speakers at Tech Target Data Center Decisions and Storage Decisions, as well as Storage Networking World. She has also been a regular speaker on webcasts and podcasts for Information Week, Ziff-Davis, Tech Target as well as numerous industry leading vendors.

Barb has published extensively since the 19990s, writing regular expert columns for publications including NetworkWorld, Computerworld Storage Networking World Online, Tech Target SearchServerVirtualization, SearchVMware, SearchSystemsChannel, Virtual Strategy Magazine and others. She serves on multiple advisory boards and is a frequent judge for awards such as Best of VMworld, and Product of the Year. She has published hundreds of articles, business and technical white papers and market research reports, as well as a book entitled “Blade Servers and Virtualization: Transforming Enterprise Computing While Cutting Costs, published by Wiley.

Barb has extensive experience in market research, competitive analysis, partner programs, product management, product marketing, and sales, holding numerous marketing roles throughout her career up through VP of Marketing. In addition to research, analysis and consulting for the vendor and user communities, Barb is an advisor and consultant to the investment community.

Barb also has a strong technical background, having started her career at IBM with virtualization on mainframes, and then spending ten years at various companies working on server, mainframe, PC and communications software. Technical roles have included software developer, systems architect, systems engineer, and director of software development and testing.

Barb has spent the last ten years as an analyst, consultant, author and speaker. She brings a unique blend of marketing and technical depth, both strategic and tactical. Leveraging her experience in emerging technology, marketing and sales, product management, analyst/press relations, software development, systems engineering, project management, and technical education, Barb offers an insightful perspective on the IT landscape of today and looking forward.
